Centennial Colorado is the newest Metro Denver community and is located on the south side of Denver.  It was founded in 2001 and has a population of nearly 103,000 residents.  It was recognized as one of the safest cities in America in 2005 by Morgan Quitno Press.  The Rocky Mountain News reported Centennial as having "by far" the lowest crime rate of all metro Denver communities. Centennial ranked 25th out of 369 American cities in the 12th Annual Safest Cities Award.

The Littleton Public Schools and Cherry Creek School District, offer some of the best public education in the Denver Metro Area. Cherry Creek School District, viewed by some as the best public education in the state, has a long and stable history of serving its residents with top-notch K-12 educational services. The Cherry Creek High School system continues to prove its great educational services by boasting some of the highest test scores in the state every year and by sending 93% of its graduates to college. Student ACT and SAT  scores  within both school systems rank well above the Colorado and National averages.
In 2004, Greenwood Elementary School was ranked by the School Accountability Report "cut" scores as the 2nd best in the State. Challenge Middle School ranked second and Cherry Creek High School was ranked forth in the State by the same report.
